Swiatek Seals Poland's Spot In Billie Jean King Cup Finals With Another Win

Iga Swiatek completed her task by ensuring that Poland will be at the 2024 Billie Jean King Cup Finals with another commanding win.

Before returning to clay in a couple of days in Stuttgart, Swiatek played for Poland in the Billie Jean King Cup. She won her first match and stepped out on the court again to finish the job and secure her country's spot at the Billie Jean King Cup.

She did just that by beating Celine Naef in two sets. It was a pretty complicated match for Swiatek, at least compared to how she normally wins these matchups.

Naef is a talented player with a bright future, but she hasn't really broken out in a major fashion so far. This performance is certainly a good indicator that she has a talent to do it, because she was actually leading in the early goings of the match.

Naef was the first player to break, and she held that break for a while, but then the Pole was able to turn things in her favor. It was in pretty typical Swiatek fashion, as she ramped up and then just outplayed her opponent from the baseline to take the opening set 6-4.

It wasn't a bad set from Swiatek, but more so, pretty good from Naef, considering that she played against the reigning world number one. The second set was another competitive one, as Swiatek missed a bit more.

She totaled 11 unforced errors, which isn't typical of her, even though this year, she's been missing more than usual. Still, she was able to find a solution and take the lead, which ultimately became a 6-3 second set.

The final score was 6-4 6-3, which is a pretty fair result for a player who is probably thinking about nothing more than clay. Luckily for her, she won't have to play on hard for months.
