Simona Halep is back and now also rankings prove it when the experienced Romanian will break into the Top 10 of the WTA Rankings for the first time in more than 1 year.

2-time Grand Slam champion is playing sensational tennis at the WTA 1000 event in Toronto and her participation in the final is enough to enter the Top 10 of the WTA Rankings. Moreover, if she wins the title, she will become world number 6 on Monday.

That comes after more than a year. Last time Simona Halep was ranked inside of Top 10, everything was much different. Ashleigh Barty was world no. 1, Naomi Osaka was 2nd and Sofia Kenin was no. 4. Bianca Andreescu was still 5th and Elina Svitolina no. 6.

Aryna Sabalenka, Iga Swiatek and Garbine Muguruza are the only three players that are in the Top 10 until now and they will welcome their old friend, who certainly belongs there.

"I changed a little bit the tactics," Halep said after her comeback victory over Jessica Pegula. "In the first set, it was a little bit too fast. She was hitting super strong and I didn't feel the rhythm. Then I just calmed down and I tried to just push her back a little bit more."
