"Netflix curse? Never heard of that" - Sakkari not superstitious

Maria Sakkari dispelled the Netflix curse theory by advancing to the 3rd round of the Australian Open with a win over Shnaider.

After tennis Twitter users observed unfortunate breaks for many of the participant's Break Point, and the so-called Netflix Curse gained popularity. Many of them have already dropped out of the competition because of injuries or defeat, but Sakkari is still competing.

Netflix curse? I have never heard that. I mean, the only one (loss) that I can think of is Matteo, but Matteo lost his match 7-6 on the fifth set. I have to say that they (the Break Point production team) only bring us luck and I enjoyed my time with them because they are nice people.’

While she didn't lose the match, Sakkari certainly had plenty of issues in it. She lost the opening set and faced very stiff opposition from her opponent before she finally found a breakthrough. Her victory came in three sets.

I know that I haven’t been playing my best tennis yet, but it’s better to keep improving and keep the good part for the later stages of the tournament.
