Coco Gauff is one of the happiest players at the start of the 2023 season as she managed to kick it off with a title.

The American was first-seeded at the 2023 ASB Classic in Auckland, and she proved her qualities as no player could stop her at the event. For Gauff, it was the first title since May 2021, and after the final, she didn't hide that it made her really happy.

"Honestly, a great week for me despite the rain. Couldn't ask for a better start to my season. First title on hard since I was 15. I'm happy to be successful on a surface that I love."

It's important for every player to play with confidence, especially with the first Grand Slam of the season right around the corner. The triumph in Auckland gives the teenager exactly that, as she said:

"It gives me a lot of confidence, honestly. You never know how your first week is gonna go. Could be good or terrible. But I think it's been a great week for both of us."

The beaten finalist, Rebeka Masarova, who played her first WTA final, was disappointed with the final match, despite a successful week, which catapulted her to Top 100 of the WTA Rankings. After the final, she said:

"My first WTA final, I'm really disappointed with today's match. I couldn't really play my game. Coco was playing amazing. The few chances I had she played really unbelievable."
