Coco Gauff wishes for players to choose their walkout song, names what her's would be

Coco Gauff would like certain things to change in tennis and one of the things that she'd like to see is players choosing their own walk-out song.

Generally, players step out to the announcer calling out their names but there is some music playing in the background as well. Walkout songs are nothing new in sports as we have it many including boxing, baseball and more. Gauff would enjoy seeing it come to tennis as well though the sport who is very slow in evolving seems unlikely to adopt this kind of practice anytime soon.

I guess one thing, I actually said this yesterday, I said I wish players could choose their walkout song when they walk on the court. I think that would be a cool little thing to add. Yeah, that would be the one thing I would change for tennis.

She was asked what her song would be and dropped a few suggestion though noted that one might not have been appropriate for a walkout song. She feels songs would be well suited to represent the players in a new light.

Today I was listening to "Love Me" by Lil Wayne and Drake. I don't know if that's the most appropriate song, so I wouldn't choose that. I would say probably ‘Icon’ by Jaden Smith or ‘Grinding All My Life’ by Nipsey Hussle. Yeah, I'd say probably one of those two songs. Probably since we're in California, probably some Nipsey Hussle.

Gauff on her songs selection

The American made a winning start at the Indian Wells Masters setting up a round three clash against Linda Noskova who is a rising star and is playing really well on these slower tennis courts in Indian Wells. She never played her before so this will be a tricky test for Gauff.
