A new event will appear in the WTA calendar in 2023, and it's the Abu Dhabi Open, which will be held from February 5th to 12th.
The new event is WTA 500 event and the entry list is full of players that will want to showcase their skills in the Middle East. The leading player was supposed to be former world no. 2, Ons Jabeur, but she eventually withdrew from the event.
However, the entry list is very strong also after her withdrawal as Daria Kasatkina, Belinda Bencic, Veronika Kudermetova, Beatriz Haddad Maia, and Karolina Pliskova are all set to compete.
But the list of players, who know how to win big matches doesn't end there. The 2019 US Open champion, Bianca Andreescu, the 2022 Wimbledon champion, Elena Rybakina and the 2017 Roland Garros champion, Jelena Ostapenko, will all play in Abu Dhabi.
