Juan Carlos Ferrero said that it wasn't easy for him to coach Alexander Zverev as the pair split after several months.

Ferrero coached Zverev a few years ago, however, the disparity in their playing styles proved to be too much to overcome. After that, things went well for Ferrero since he went on to coach Alcaraz, who he helped to become the number one player in the world this year.

"Working with Sascha (Zverev) that wasn’t that easy for me, it’s not the same culture, he understands a little bit differently (the meaning of) being professional," explained Ferrero in a talk with Eurosport.

"I needed to refresh a little bit and work with someone that was a little bit the same character as me and wanted the same things for the future and in Carlos I think I found it," added Ferrero.

Alcaraz is incredibly pleasant to work with since he paid attention to whatever Juan Carlos said. He constantly mentions him in interviews as well and their similar Spanish heritage just makes for a good chemistry.

"He’s my second player as a coach and I think I keep learning from him and he’s learning from me. We’re both together growing up at the same time. He’s a very nice guy and it’s very easy to work with him," concluded Ferrero.
