Frances Tiafoe is enjoying the best weeks of his career when he reached US Open semifinals and had also a chance to share court with Roger Federer during his last match.

At the 2022 US Open, the young American defeated the second-seeded Rafael Nadal in what was the most memorable match of his career so far. Only a few weeks later, he replaced John Isner at the 2022 Laver Cup and had a chance to share the court with Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer during the Swiss Maestro's last professional match.

After a few crazy months, Frances Tiafoe spoke to Ebony.com and summarised everything that happened in the previous weeks.

"Man, it was wild! Being in America and going on a run like that—and being Black in Arthur Ashe Stadium, I felt like he was watching over me. The crowd was definitely behind me and I could feel the energy," said Tiafoe in an interview with Ebony.com

"Every time I step on the court, I want everyone in that stadium to feel like it was worth spending their hard-earned money to see me play. Those were some really fun games and I think that’s what the crowd wants to see. And with Serena coming out with her cape on and getting her flowers, it was amazing."

The young American also spoke about his parents and his background. Moreover, he added that he feels responsible towards the young player that are coming after him.

"I don't think I would be where I am if it weren't for my parents. My dad and mom worked the night shift for years to make sure we were good. Growing up watching them work, there was no way that I was going to be lazy. Because of them, I want to bring the same effort to tennis and in my life."

"There's always been a lack of diversity and a lack of inclusion in tennis. I do feel that I have the responsibility to pay it forward to the young Black players coming after me. I want to be a voice for them."

"I’m at a place where they can come and talk to me. Hopefully, I can inspire younger tennis players to do something great. It's not just about where you came from but where you're going," said Tiafoe.
