Carlos Alcaraz is a close friend of Carreno Busta but he showed no restraint while they were playing beating him in two sets and moving on.

In their Basel quarterfinal matchup, Alcaraz defeated his compatriot, with whom he usually plays doubles, in straight sets. Despite just lasting two sets, the contest wasn't straightforward, and he explained why after the match.

"It is difficult to play against a friend like Pablo," said Alcaraz post-match. "Every day we go and have dinner, lunch, together. Every week and we train together, so it is difficult to play against him. I also support him and want him to win every match. On court, there are no friends. You have to be focused and go for the match and that is what I did."

"It is going to be a really tough match" said Alcaraz about his upcoming match against Felix Auger-Aliassime. He faced him twice in his career and is yet to defeat him:

"He is playing really well. He has had great victories this year. I will have to be really focused. I will try to show my best tennis against him."
