'Not Happy With That': Djokovic Reacts To Destroying Two Racquets At ATP Finals

| by Sebastian Dahlman

Novak Djokovic had a pretty big outburst during his ATP Finals match against Holger Rune, and he was not happy with it.

Outburst are nothing new for Djokovic, who has had a lot of them over the years. It's nothing in general in tennis, but this one seemed to be quite a big one. He destroyed two racquets by stomping on them, which you don't see often because, generally, he manages to keep it somewhat controlled.

It became a storyline, obviously, with the Serbian addressing it after the match explaining that he wasn't happy with it. It's not a pretty sight to see, but sometimes it just helps to release the build-up frustration so you can move one quickly.

mean, some people are saying that if you want to use that word 'pragmatic' for me to do that because then I can release whatever tension I'm holding and frustration and move on, maybe that was the case tonight.

But I wouldn't encourage anybody doing that. Neither do I encourage myself. I'm not happy. I'm not happy with that. I definitely don't like that I have done that, but I have done it and that is it and I have to take responsibility.

Plenty of players break racquets and ultimately it did help Djokovic as he won the match but it's never a pretty sight. The crowd booed him for breaking the racquets which is standard procedure but yeah it happened as Djokovic said.

Let's see whether it happens again in the coming matches or whether Djokovic finds a better way to control his emotions.

Yeah, I guess in some cases it has happened in the past where I do that and come back playing more freely, I guess, just letting go. There are different ways, maybe smarter ways to let go of the frustration than breaking a racquet (smiling).
