Towards the end of this season, Denis Shapovalov plays some of his best tennis and the results prove it.

It's been a long time since the 23-years-old Canadian lifted a title as his only ATP triumph came back in 2019 in Stockholm. This year, he was only one match away from winning in Seoul, but he was eventually stopped by Yoshihito Nishioka.

Now, Denis Shapovalov continues in a winning trend also at the 2022 Japan Open in Tokyo and after winning three matches without losing a set, he will meet Taylor Fritz in the semifinals. After his quarterfinal victory over Borna Coric, he said:

"I think I played great today," Shapovalov said. "In general, my level the last two weeks has been great, so I'm very happy to be back in the semis."

"When my serve is going well, the rest of my game, I can kind of relax and play pretty freely," Shapovalov said. "Me and my team have put a lot of work into returns as well, so I think that's an area where I've improved a lot, as well as the serve. I think those are the two most important shots in the game."
