As Andy Murray prepares for the 2023 Australian Open, the first Grand Slam of the year, he can't help but think that this may be his last.
At 35 years old, Murray has had his fair share of injuries and struggles in the past few years. Despite this, he still loves the game of tennis and plans on continuing to compete as long as his body allows him to.
"So long as my body is okay and I'm healthy, then I'll continue to compete," Murray stated in an interview with 9News. "There's a chance that might be the last time, with the age that I'm at and the injury history and stuff in the last few years."
While Murray may be feeling the pressure of potentially ending his career at the Australian Open, he is also feeling the pressure from his kids. "The kids don't want to talk to me on Facetime anymore," he joked. "I don't know if that's their way of punishing me."
Despite the challenges he has faced, Murray remains determined and focused on making the most of his time on the court. At 35 years old, Murray is one of the older players on the tour and has had to undergo numerous surgeries in recent years, including a hip replacement.
However, the Australian Open, which begins on January 16th will be a tough challenge for Murray. As an unseeded player, he will face a difficult draw and will have to face off against top players such as Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal if he wants to make it deep into the tournament.
In the lead-up to the Australian Open, Murray has been working hard to prepare and get himself in the best possible shape. He has been practicing and training hard, and is hopeful that he can put in a strong performance at the Grand Slam event.
Regardless of the outcome at the Australian Open, Murray has had an impressive career and will always be remembered as one of the greatest players in the history of the sport.
