Andy Murray and Gael Monfils are set to clash in a highly anticipated first-round match at an ATP Challenger tournament.
The 2023 Open Aix Provence in Aix-En-Provence in France promises to showcase one of the best first-round Challenger matches in the history of tennis. At the tournament, which is held during the second week of the ongoing Madrid Open, three-time Grand Slam champion Andy Murray is going to take on former world no. 6 Gael Monfils.
The Scot accepted a wild card for the tournament after his Madrid exit, and also Monfils received a wild card for the tournament. But they are not the only two star names to attend the ATP Challenger event in France.
The first-seeded player is world no. 17 Tommy Paul from the United States, and the American will want to forget his bad form in the second round meeting against a qualifier or home player Geoffrey Blancaneaux.
The second-seeded at the tournament is another talented American, Brandon Nakashima, who is coming back from an injury and in the second round, he will start also against a qualifier or talented Portuguese player Nuno Borges.
Alexander Bublik is also one of the players that will compete in France. He lost early in Madrid and so he will use the second week of the tournament to compete at the Challenger Tour. In the first round, the Kazakh will play against Riccardo Bonadio.
But the draw is full also of many other French players such as Benoit Paire, Quentin Halys, Arthur Fils, Gregoire Barrere, Laurent Lokoli, Luca Van Assche, Adrian Mannarino, and Alexandre Muller.
