"Motivation is a lot higher than it used to be" - Kyrgios on his improvement

Nick Kyrgios has seen himself rise to one of the best tennis players on the Tour and it's mostly due to a different approach.

The Australian was always honest about his lack of work especially compared to some of the top guys but his love for tennis never wavered. It might not be his favourite sport but it's one he cares about even if he would not admit it. Kyrgios was blessed with incredible talent and this year it's working out well for him as his motivation rose and the practice time increased.

The Wimbledon final showed it and so did this past week in Washington. He secured a clean sweep winning trophies both in the singles and doubles, a new historic achievement because it's the first ever at Washington. It's something he's pleased about and it comes due to his maturing:

"Honestly, I feel as if I'm a lot older, a lot more mature, and I feel like when you get older, you realize you shouldn't be taking these things for granted, the way you're feeling, the way your body feels. Also, I have a partner with me now I see a future with and I kind of see that I have to provide for. So I feel like my motivation is a lot higher than it used to be."

He further added:

"I don't care about what people say about my tennis, like always disrespectful to the sport, all this, all that. I know that deep down that I try really hard to do it my own way. I know that I inspire millions of people, and I'm just playing for them."
