After undergoing a surgery last year, Daniil Medvedev lost his form and dropped out of the Top 10, but his tennis is back as he showed it in Rotterdam.

The 2021 US Open champion entered the 2023 Rotterdam Open as the sixth-seeded but he lost the first set in the first round and he was close to another early exit. However, Medvedev managed to turn that match around and started his domination in the Dutch city.

First, he defeated Botic van de Zandschulp, then he eliminated defending champion Felix Auger-Aliassime and in the semifinals, the former world no. 1 took on Grigor Dimitrov.

Medvedev flew into the match in style. He had a breakpoint in the first game, but despite not using it, he went on to win 16 of the following 20 rallies to build a two-break 4-1 lead. He then added one more break, winning the first set 6-1.

In the second set, Medvedev didn't stop his dominance. This time, Dimitrov managed to take his serve once, but the Russian broke his opponent three times again and after an hour and 22 minutes, he won the match 6-1, 6-2.

In the final, Medvedev will await one of the two unseeded players. One of them is home surprise Tallon Griekspoor, another is the ninth highest-ranked player in the draw, Jannik Sinner, who defeated the first-seeded Stefanos Tsitsipas.
