Andrey Rublev sat down for a short interview with MatchTV where he talked about his preparation for Roland Garros as well as Nadal and Alcaraz.
Rublev has had a few tough weeks lately on the tour suffering a couple of disappointing losses on clay. Heading into Roland Garros, Rublev spoke about his preparation saying:
“The preparation is going well, physically I also feel good. Let's see how everything turns out. I'll fly to Paris on Wednesday. It will be 3-4 days to train and prepare.”
Speaking further about Roland Garros, Rublev touched upon how much the event changed in the past few years:
"To be honest the courts have changed a lot in Paris in the past. When I played juniors, they were completely different. Now, without soil, very slippery, very fast, like some concrete. Big courts are better but smaller ones, it's hard to play. In 2020 it was cold and rainy and it helped me a lot."
He was also asked about the ries of Alcaraz and how he compares to Nadal. Rublev responded:
"It's wrong to compare because all tennis players are different physically, technically, mentally and externally. But there will always be comparisons. I don't like to compare. I can only say that both are Spanish and both use Babolat racquets. Their syle is different. Generations can not be compared".
He added:
"Carlos is very nice, modest guy, he sincerely loves tennis and plays with with everything."
