Matteo Berrettini will make his maiden appearance at the Diriyah Tennis Cup that will start on 8 December in Saudi Arabia and he's really excited about his participation.

The Italian played in this season's first Grand Slam semifinal and rose to a career-high sixth rank after spending a considerable amount of time within the Top 10. His injuries prevented him from playing at Roland Garros, and a positive Covid test prevented him from competing at Wimbledon.

Only last year, he became the first Italian to ever make it to the Wimbledon final, that was played on the same day as Italy's football match in EURO final against England. Travelling to Middle, Berrettini hopes to build on past accomplishments at the 2022 Diriyah Tennis Cup and build a strong base for the 2023 season.

“I've never been to Saudi Arabia, but I'm sure the atmosphere will be great and hopefully the tennis will inspire the local fans in particular the younger generation. After some challenges this year, I look forward to competing against a very strong player field to see where my level is before the start of the new season,” the 26-years-old Italian.
