Canada never had a chance to think about winner's trophy in the history of Davis Cup but in 2022 that changed thanks to two youngsters.

Felix Auger-Aliassime and Denis Shapovalov took care of Canada's singles matches and when it was needed, Vasek Pospisil used all of his experience to team up with the youngsters in doubles and push the country to history triumph. It was Auger-Aliassime, who delivered the last needed point and he didn't hide his emotions after the triumph.

“The emotions are tough to describe,” said Auger-Aliassime. “Denis and I grew up together, dreaming of these types of stage, dreaming of winning the Davis Cup. It’s a great moment for myself and for the country.”

Denis Shapovalov also spoke about the triumph as he remembered some of the best players that represented Canada when he was a kid.

“From when we were juniors, watching Vasek [Pospisil], Milos Raonic and Daniel Nestor play Davis Cup, we wanted to do the same, and maybe even to win it one day. It was tough to lose in 2019, it was an empty feeling and we wanted it badly this time,” he said.

Vasek Pospisil, who was the most-experienced player in the team, admitted that he's been waiting for this triumph for a long time and it finally came.

“We’ve been dreaming about this for several years,” he said. “To be here as world champions, I’m speechless. These guys are not kids any more. They’ve been crushing it. You can’t win this event without tremendous team chemistry, going forwards as one unit, and all these guys represent exactly that.”
