Jack Sock and his wife Laura Little have become parents for the first time, announcing the news of their newborn son Brody Bryan Sock on social media.
In a joint post on Instagram, the couple revealed a snippet of baby Brody for the first time sleeping in presumably a playpen. Sock's wife Laura Little is a former Miss North Carolina and have been married since December 2020.
They had announced in July this year that they were expecting a baby boy at some point in December. Little eventually gave birth a month earlier than anticipated from the heartwarming video they shared a few months ago.
"Everyone say hi to Brody Bryan Sock our greatest blessing on 11/14/23."
Sock is a former World No. 8 who called time on his playing career as a tennis pro following the conclusion of the 2023 US Open. His career highlights included winning the 2017 Paris Masters and reaching the semifinal of the ATP Finals a fortnight later.
He was proficient in doubles from a very young age, famously winning the 2011 US Open mixed doubles together with Melanie Oudin. Sock won an additional three Grand Slam doubles titles, twice with Mike Bryan (2018 Wimbledon & US Open) and once with Vasek Pospisil (2014 Wimbledon).
Because of a succession of injuries, Sock pulled the plug on his career, playing one final time at the US Open. He played in doubles and mixed doubles, with John Isner and Coco Gauff respectively. But lost both matches in the first round.
Since his retirement from tennis, the 31-year-old has switched careers and is now a pickleball pro. In his retirement statement, Sock stated that he was "excited" for the chapter ahead. He even won his first professional pickleball event on debut. The American has since been signed up by the PPA - the governing body of pickleball.
