Djokovic stays perfect in Turin with another superb display of dominance

Prior to the final ATP event of the season, Novak Djokovic was named as one of the top favourites and with every match played, it appears that it was justified.

The 35-years-old Serbian defeated former champion Stefanos Tsitsipas on Monday and today, he faced Andrey Rublev, who also started the 2022 ATP Finals campaign with a victory over another former champion, Daniil Medvedev.

Both players were dominant on their serve in the first set as it seemed that it will need to be decided in a tie-break. However, in the tenth game, Djokovic stepped up his game when needed to force the first break point of the match. It was also his first set point and after using it, he won the first set 6-4.

In the second set, the Serbian seemed to be unstoppable. He hit 90% of his first serves in and made only 1 unforced error. On the other hand, Rublev made 10 unforced errors and his 2nd serve was far from ideal.

Eventually, Djokovic managed to get two breaks and win his second match at the 2022 ATP Finals 6-4, 6-1 in an hour and 9 minutes. On Friday, he will take on Daniil Medvedev in his last round-robin match.
