Roland Garros is inching closer and some French players are among the wild card recipients such as Benoit Paire and Arthur Fils.
We're less than 14 days away from Roland Garros and the wild card spots are being filled. A few French players are going to be part of the main draw thanks to wild cards and two main names are Benoit Paire and Arthur Fils. Benoit Paire has been playing better lately after ditching some bad habits and taking things more seriously again.
He's playing ATP Challenger events and he's winning matches regularly again which bodes well for his immediate future. The effort was awarded a wild card by the French Tennis Federation, something Paire is rather grateful for.
His fellow French player Arthur Fils is also a wild card recipient thanks to some amazing performances this year. The youngster established himself as a really good player proving quite competitive on the red dirt as well.
It's not his best surface but being a rising native player made him a logical player to award a wild card too. They join Thanasi Kokkinakis who got a wild card earlier on the list of players that won't have to play the qualifiers in order to play at the event.
Arthur Cazaux, Hugo Gaston, Hugo Grenier, and Giovanni Mpetshi-Perricard all received wild cards as well with the wild card recipients in the women's singles being Clara Burel, Séléna Janicijevic, Léolia Jeanjean, Kristina Mladenovic, Diane Parry, and Jessika Ponchet.
The second Grand Slam of the season begins on May 28th and runs till June 11th when the final will be played. The event promises to be a very exciting one with a lot of drama as the participation of Nadal is yet to be determined. Novak Djokovic is dealing with an elbow issue and Carlos Alcaraz is eyeing further glory in Paris.
