Andy Murray played another solid match to beat Alexander Bublik for the 2nd time this year in Stuttgart on grass 6-3 7-6(4).
They both enjoy playing on the grass with Bublik going as far as claiming it's his favourite surface. It's not hard to guess why because he does enjoy playing short points and short matches. After all, we would all like to cut short our working time. Today was pretty simple for Bublik as Murray did most of the work in this one. He applied pressure from early on and was able to eventually find a breakthrough.
It was 5-2 for Murray who finished off the opening set with 6-3. Murray served very well and it allowed him to drop only a handful of points on his first serve in the opening set. He did not face a single break point in it. In the 2nd set, Murray was also able to get an early break but he did not cruise from there. Bublik broke back immediately and then went on to win 3 games in a row making it 5-2.
Then it was time for Murray to make a comeback as he was able to win three games in a row saving three set points in the process as well 5-5. We finished in the tiebreak with Murray proving better 7-4. The British player wanted this match more and sometimes that's enough to win against Bublik. A good showing and a quarterfinal for Murray.
