After being forced out of the first major of the season due to an injury, Carlos Alcaraz started his season on clay in South America.

The 19-year-old signed up for the 2023 Argentina Open in Buenos Aires and he entered the tournament as the first-seeded player and a big favourite to win the event. Now, he's sure to get at least a trophy for the runner-up, as he made it to the final after three dominant performances.

First, Alcaraz defeated Laslo Djere in three sets, and then, he also defeated his compatriot Dusan Lajovic, more easily in two sets. In the semifinals, the Spaniard took on Bernabe Zapata Miralles, who previously defeated home crowd favourite, Diego Schwartzman.

Everything went well for Alcaraz in the match from start to finish. The Spaniard broke his countryman's serve already in the third game and after adding yet another break in the seventh, he comfortably won the first set 6-2.

Former world no. 1 was not stopping in the second set, again breaking his opponent two times and leading 4-1. This time, however, Zapata Miralles managed to break back once, but Alcaraz would soon break again and win the match 6-2, 6-2 in just an hour and 17 minutes.

In the final, the teenager will take on dangerous lefty, Cameron Norrie, who is the second-seeded at the event and maybe the only player that can really beat him. They will fight for the top prize of 250 points and $95,305 in prize money.
