2023 Houston Open ATP Draw with Tiafoe, Paul, Sock & more

| by Zachary Wimer

The 2023 Houston Open is one of the first clay-court events in the ATP calendar and we already know the tournament's draw.

The tournament, which is often referred to as the U.S. Men's Clay Court Championship will be played from April 3rd to 9th. Last year, Reilly Opelka triumphed in Houston, but he won't be able to defend his title in 2023 because of an injury that keeps him out of play.

The first-seeded player at the 2023 Houston Open, played at the River Oaks Country Club, is Frances Tiafoe. The top four seeded players have a bye in the first round and so the American will start against Facundo Bagnis or two-time champion Steve Johnson, who won the event in 2017 and 2018.

While Tiafoe can already scout his opponents, the second-seeded Tommy Paul has no clue who will await him in the second round as he'll play against one of the qualifiers. However, the quarterfinal clash can be quite interesting for him as he can meet Jack Sock, who received a wild card for the event and will also start against one of the qualifiers.

Another wild card recipient and former champion, Fernando Verdasco who won in 2014, will play against the sixth-seeded Jason Kubler in the first round. On the other hand, the 2013 winner John Isner will enjoy a bit of rest in the first round as he'll begin with a second-round match against Aleksandar Kovacevic or Gijs Brouwer.

Cristian Garin will want to follow up on his good form from the Sunshine Double, and the Chilean will play against Hugo Dellien from Bolivia in the first round. To get a clear idea about possible clashes at the 2023 Houston Open, be sure to see the full draw below.
