The 2023 Citi Open in Washington is right around the corner and the entry list is starting to shape up for the ATP 500 event.

Run from July 31st to August 6th in 2023, the tournament in Washington is one of the most favourite among players on the ATP Tour. The reason is how well is the event organized, so it's not a surprise that a similar line-up of players comes every year.

In 2022, Nick Kyrgios emerged as a champion at the tournament, and the Australian certainly wanted to be back to defend his title, however, the injury prevented him from competing at the tournament.

But the William H.G. FitzGerald Tennis Center in Rock Creek Park will witness thrilling action from not just one or two, but several top ATP players. 2021 US Open champion Daniil Medvedev, fresh off his five title wins in 2023, wanted to go one better this year after reaching the D.C. final in 2019, but ultimately withdrew from the tournament.

Former World No. 1 Andy Murray also makes his way to the capital. With three Grand Slam titles and two Olympic gold medals under his belt, Murray will no doubt draw a massive crowd. A finalist at the D.C. Open in 2006 and a quarterfinalist in 2018, Murray will certainly be eager to add this title to his illustrious resume.

Homegrown talent will also be on display in the form of Washington, D.C. native Frances Tiafoe, who has kicked off 2023 in fine form, clinching his second career title in Houston with Taylor Fritz and Felix Auger-Aliassime as other notable entrants.

Grigor Dimitrov and Gael Monfils round out this robust roster of players introduced early. Dimitrov, a three-time Grand Slam semifinalist, and Monfils, a former World No. 6 and 2016 D.C. champion, will no doubt bring their unique flare to this iconic tournament.

With only the first eight players announced, the chairman of the 2023 Citi Open Washington Mark Ein didn't hide that he was really happy about what line-up the tournament organizers managed to bring to the capital.

"We are thrilled to share our initial group of some of the most compelling men’s and women’s players in the world who will make up the incredibly exciting, deep player field we are building for the 2023 tournament."
